Break Through Artists

BUSTED162 Emapea COVER ARTAccomplished Polish beat-maker Emapea has made memorable appearances on many Cold Busted label compilations – such as in the IWYMI and Bust Free series – and has been selected for inclusion in Mark Farina’s next Mushroom Jazz installment. All this activity has mouths watering for the debut full length album from Emapea, and the appearance of Seeds, Roots & Fruits doesn’t disappoint one bit. Featuring sixteen exceptional tracks ranging from hip hop to acid jazz to psychedelic trip hop in the style of Mo’Wax, Emapea’s long player is indeed, as a wise man once said, “a journey into sound.” Highlights include the sample-rific “Enjoy” which includes smooth key and saxophone riffs, “Good Old Days” with its appealing old school hip hop flavor, the spacey tones of “Milky Haze” and “Yugen”, and the floor-filling breakbeat funk of “What The Funk”. Containing moments both dance-oriented and pensive, Seeds, Roots & Fruits rises above the average beats album to reveal the enduring depth of this young producer … Emapea is one to watch. Emapea’s Seeds, Roots & Fruits will be available from Cold Busted on 12"

Emapea’s cuts are meant for the listener to get lost in – but they’re not only for chilling, or when deep in thought, but also for getting in that crucial head-nod zone, like when the DJ drops the dopest beat. Expertly crafted and sequenced, the album presents a boom-bap journey that’s dreamy and spacey while remaining tough and jazzy. “Check It Out” exemplifies the mood with its smooth drums, chiming keys, subtle sax riffs, and hip hop shout-outs. The vibe expands on “Motion”, adding an exotic, worldly flavor to the seductively
loping rhythm. And “Classy” features a smokey saloon piano melody that cruises smugly out of jeep-beat speakers. This track was recently featured on a limited postcard record, mailed surreptitiously to lucky Emapea supporters.

Zoning Out, Volume 1 defines Emapea as an artist to watch on the international beat scene. Pay attention as Volume 2 will be continuing the journey in later months.
