Q-Burns Abstract Message is an expert time traveler. But it’s not about the physical transportation of bodies into the past or future. Instead, these are sonic waves, vibrating in all directions, touching different eras and territories. Like a Stalker entering ‘The Zone,’ Q-BAM is forever in search of the undefinable. He’ll know it when he sees it, and today it’s looking like an AUDIOTOTEMPOLE. M. Donaldson is Q-Burns Abstract Message, formerly broadcasting with
Astralwerks and a handful of other co-conspirators. Over the decades he’s wielded turntables in locales from Novosibirsk to Antofagasta, but now he’s mostly quiet.
Occasionally Q-Burns Abstract Message pops up in someone’s mix set, or mentioned in a blog post, or perhaps in an odd remix. But, for the most part, he’s a known unknown. Now he’s reappeared, clutching an AUDIOTOTEMPOLE. It’s an homage to a secret history without the stain of nostalgia. These are songs spanning the lost years, buzzing with electricity and ritual ambiguity. “Tremble,” for example, is handed down from clouds, signaling Q-BAM’s transition from mystic to mystical. “Kept in a Shadehouse” undulates in continuous motion, brightly placing tones in orbit around its bristling center. And “Touchtones (1997)” is an earthy clue, creating the temporal connection — past meets present, full circle.

Samuel Lloyd "Sam" Duckworth (born 30 January 1986) is an English musician who performs as Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. He is sometimes referred to as Get Cape, Cape, GCWCF and Slam Dunkworth (the latter title apparently first coined by Emmy The Great).[3] According to Duckworth, his original stage name came from Retro Gamer magazine, from an article about superhero games such as Batman containing the heading "Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly", although a Calvin & Hobbes cartoon by Bill Watterson has also been cited.[4] In addition to the Get Cape name, and his given name, Duckworth has released music under the moniker Recreations.

Fusing elements of electronica, rock and pop with a danceable groove, Karmacoda creates music that is modern yet deeply moving and emotional.
Central themes of transformation: love, loss, lust and longing show up as story lines in their songs, pulling instrumental inspiration from a myriad of musical genres and time periods. It's been over a decade since the band was founded as a personal writing and recording project by founder and vocalist B. What started as an experimental music project in between bands, has turned into six studio albums, several remix records and a live album.
Their songs, often cinematic in scope and vibe, have been featured prominently in film and television soundtracks and have won a number of music awards.
Bassist, Eric Matsuno joined the band during the release of their 2007 album success, Illuminate and vocalist, Jessica Ford joined adding her amazing vocals following the release of their 2015 album Love and Fate.
From the very beginning, Karmacoda has recorded their albums at The Amsterdam Room, B.'s personal studio. In 2009 the band built The Briefing Room, a combined dedicated, rehearsal space and recording studio on Treasure Island, in the heart of the San Francisco Bay. All their albums since Eternal released in 2011 have been recorded at both studios. While their albums have always featured stellar production, live, the band brings an emotional intensity generated by their dynamic performances, more akin to a rock show than a DJ set.
Their 2018 album Intimate builds upon the organic meets electric sound Karmacoda has been cultivating since their inception, and is filled with lush musical landscapes, hooky choruses, moving vocal performances and melodies that linger. The first single from the album is Mesmerized which features the inimitable vocals of Jessica Ford.
Intimate also features guest collaborators Andy Korn (Ronnie Spector, Joey Ramone) on drums and percussion and Mark Pistel (Consolidated, Hercules and Love Affair, Meat Beat Manifesto) on synthesizers and guitar.
